School-year start in ATO zone: militants shell Ukraine troops 20 times, army returns fire once
On September 1, Russian-occupation forces in the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation fired at the Ukrainian troops 20 times, according to the press center of the ATO headquarters.
“In the Luhansk direction, the enemy opened fire four times outside Stanytsia Luhanska, Krymske, and Zhovte,” the press service wrote on Facebook.
On the Donetsk line, strongpoints of Ukraine’s Armed Forces came under fire from small arms 14 times near Avdiyivka, Zaitseve, Maiorsk, and Butivka coal mine.
In the Mariupol direction, the enemy attacked twice in the vicinity of Vodiane.
"In order to preserve the lives of Ukrainian defenders, the ATO forces returned fire only once," the ATO headquarters wrote.
"At the same time, the military command and control bodies continue to take measures to prevent ceasefire violations... The ATO command declares readiness of the Ukrainian army to respond adequately to any aggressive acts by the enemy, threatening our fighters and civilians," the statement reads.
