Ukraine says Christmas truce in Donbas lasted almost a day
The Christmas truce announced ahead of the Orthodox Christmas has lasted for almost 24 hours but on Sunday afternoon, the enemy resorted to armed provocations and breached ceasefire accords reached by the Tripartite Contact Group in Minsk, according to a report by the press center of the Headquarters of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.
In particular, in the Donetsk direction, the enemy fired from small arms and mortared with 82mm shells fortifications of the ATO forces near Verhniotoretske.
About half a dozen shells were launched on the Ukrainian troops in the area.
Ukrainian forces did not return fire, reads the report.
In other sections along the line of contact, no ceasefire violations were recorded over the past day.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to the Joint Control and Coordination Center, militants were seen equipping new firing positions during the "New Year truce".
