The militants were most active after dark. They resorted to shelling of the Ukrainian positions, using banned mortars, infantry fighting vehicles and grenade launchers.

For more than two and a half hours, with short breaks, the illegal armed formations had been firing 82mm mortars and infantry weapons on the defenders of the village of Luhanske, as well as small arms near the villages of Katerynivka and Stanytsia Luhanska.
In the Donetsk sector, the occupiers used 120mm mortars against the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Vodiane and Shyrokyne. Moreover, the Ukrainian positions near the town of Avdiyivka came under fire from grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns and small arms.
"Despite the fact that the criminal actions of Russian invaders threatened the lives and health of our servicemen, the Ukrainian defenders were forced to fire back in five cases," the ATO HQ said.
