German foreign minister says Crimea is still Ukrainian (Video)
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has said that Germany refuses to accept Europe’s borders being changed again, 70 years after the Second World War.
Following his trip to Moscow on Tuesday, he rejected a proposal of Matthias Platzeck, chairman of the German-Russian Forum business lobby, to suggest that the West should recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
At a joint press conference with his Polish counterpart in Berlin on Wednesday, he stressed that Germany has a “substantially different view of events in Ukraine to [that of Russian President Vladimir] Putin”.
