President Victor Yushchenko met today in Brussels with Secretary-General of the Council of the EU and EU High Representative for the CFSP Javier Solana, according to the government`s press-office.

The parties discussed a wide range of subjects including Ukraine-EU dialogue. As President Yushchenko said to journalists after the meeting the Ukrainian side is satisfied with current “dialogue’s character and substance”.

J. Solana and V. Yushchenko also dwelled upon discussion of both political and economic constituentsof the new enhanced cooperation agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Regarding that President said that both sides are contented with talks’ process current dynamics.

Much attention the parties paid to internal political situation in Ukraine especially the functioning of the Parliament. Making comments on the matter Victor Yushchenko said: “I am pleased to see that lately the Parliament of Ukraine came out of the crisis and began to work”.

When speaking about discussing NATO aspirations of Ukraine and country’s possible accession to Membership Target Plan with Mr. Solana, Mr. Yushchenko stressed that both sides reached great mutual understanding.

From his part Javier Solana expressed appreciation of the meeting with Victor Yushchenko and stressed that the EU is seeking to deepen its relationship with Ukraine. “We have reemphasized thet we are seeking to build more solid relations with Ukraine and see much potential in them”, said the High Representative.
