The Central Election Commission of Georgia announced the need to hold a second round of presidential elections.

It is reported that independent presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili gained 38.6% of the votes in the first round of voting, while at least 50% is required to seal a first-round win.

His opposition competitor Grigor Vashadze secured 37.75% of the votes, also reaching the second round.

It is noted that information from 98.25% of the polling stations has been processed.

Zurabishvili leads the polls after 75% of the ballots were counted.
