"I believe that the White House should reconsider the possibility of the delivery to Ukrainians U.S. defense weapons on a more serious level. This will help them in the fight, which isn’t going to end in the near future," Murphy said.

"We have to continue to insist that the White House supports this view, because economic sanctions against Russia are not achieving their goals," he said.

The senator also said he supported the actions of the Ukrainian government.
