The magazine also noted that Germany’s Defense Minister, Ursula von der Leyen, had said that the supply of weapons to Ukraine would lead to a further escalation of the conflict.

"Weapons deliveries would be a fire accelerant," Von der Leyen said, adding that such move "could give the Kremlin the excuse to openly intervene in this conflict".

As earlier reported, on Firday Merkel and Hollande are expected to visit Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The leaders of Germany and France are going to present a new proposal to Putin on the resolution of the conflict in the Donbas.
