EU plans to counter propaganda in Russian
The European Union is working on a response to Kremlin propaganda in the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries, and in Russia itself, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said on Friday at the inter-parliamentary conference in Riga, according to Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
"We’re working on strategic communication to counter propaganda, in Russian - not only in the region of the Eastern Partnership or Russia, but also in the EU, because we have a large Russian-speaking community, [and] not only in the east of the EU, but also in other countries," she said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the EU proposed to create the Internet platform in order to present information about media manipulation and propaganda, to support initiatives for the creation of TV channels, Web portals, radio and print media in Russian, to encourage the exchange of products within the EU, and to offer products to the current Russian media.
As reported earlier, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania called on the European Commission to create media channels for information resistance to Russian propaganda.
