Russia calls German news agency "foreign agent," claims it "justifies extremism"
Head of Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs Vasilii Piskarev says the State Duma Commission will review accreditation for Deutsche Welle, the German state radio station and the TV channel, due to "signs of justification of extremism."
The check revealed "all signs of a foreign agent," in particular, the alleged "justification of extremism," he said on September 27.
The Russian government will send the materials to Russia's Justice Ministry to consider the issue of granting "foreign agent status" to the said broadcaster.
In addition, the State Duma commission is analyzing the materials of other news outlets, including opposition ones: Meduza, Radio Liberty, and the BBC's Russian service.
