President meets with Arab League Secretary-General
Ukraine considers the Arab League a leading organization in the Arab world
Within the framework of his visit to Egypt President Victor Yushchenko met in Cairo with the Secretary-General of League of Arab States Amr Moussa first tête-à-tête, then in expanded format, according to the President`s press-office. In the second meeting Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, Minister for Regional Development Vasyl Kuibida, Industries Minister Volodymyr Novytsky, Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk, first deputy Minister of Defense Valeriy Ivashchenko, acting Security Service Head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Director General of National Space Agency Yuriy Alekseev and deputy Chief of Staff of President’s Secretariat Oleksandr Chalyy took part.
At the meeting Victor Yushchenko stressed that Ukraine considers the Arab League a leading organization in the Arab world and appreciates the Organization’s efforts in bringing stability to the region. Sides discussed prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and the League. The Ukrainian side expressed interest in developing dialogue with the Arab countries. Separate attention sides paid to the situation in the Middle East.
After the meeting President Yushchenko left his note in a Book of Honorable Guests of the organization expressing respect for League’s activity.
