Political dialogue between Russia and Britain has gone and “the only sphere we have left is culture”, Yakovenko has told The Times.

Practically, all political contacts were abruptly broken off at Britain’s initiative, political dialogue has gone at the top level, between the leaders,” he said. “At the ministerial level there is also stagnation. This began with the Syria conflict, but we felt it especially after the Ukrainian crisis.”

One of them is related to the cooperation between Moscow and London in determining targets of attacks on the positions of the Islamic State, and the second one - to establishing contacts with the Free Syrian Army for a more effective fight against the IS. Both of these requests were turned down by the British side, Yakovenko said.
