President meets the Premier of Manitoba
The sides discussed interregional and trade economic cooperation
President Victor Yushchenko met in Winnipeg with the Premier of Manitoba Gary Albert Doer, according to the President`s press-office.
During the meeting sides discussed interregional and trade economic cooperation, partnership in agriculture, cultural ties, etc. Separately a subject of Memorandum on mutual understanding between Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration and Manitoba in trade-economic, agricultural, scientific and humanitarian cooperation was brought up.
On behalf of Ukraine President Yushchenko thanked Manitoba authorities for their attention to cultural and educational needs of 167.000 Ukrainians living in the province. He also expressed gratitude for their efforts in revealing the truth about the Great Famine before the world (Winnipeg was one of the first cities in which a memorial to Holodomor victims was built)
At the end of the meeting Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration Viktor Bondar and the Premier of Manitoba Gary Albert Doer signed an agreement on cooperation between Dnipropetrovsk region and Province of Manitoba.
