China's position aims at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and ensuring peace and stability in Northeast Asia, according to China's foreign ministry spokeswoman. She said China strongly urged the North Korean side to remain committed to its denuclearization obligations and stop taking any action that would worsen the situation, according to the report.

As earlier reported, North Korea said that it had successfully conducted a test of a miniaturized hydrogen nuclear device early Wednesday morning.
