President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel stress necessity to continue talks in Ukraine-NATO format.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, they claimed this at a joint press conference on results of their talks in Kyiv.

In particular, A.Merkel noted that the Bucharest NATO Summit made a principal decision that Ukraine will become a NATO member. At the same time, she stressed that none other country, which is not a NATO member, can take part in the discussion concerning the Ukraine’s NATO perspective.

In his turn, Victor Yushchenko marked the big progress in talks concerning the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.

At the same time, he noted that the issue of the Ukraine’s integration with NATO is more sensitive, and the sides came to a conclusion that it is necessary to continue the dialog, including at the highest level.

“We should formulate compromises, following this way. I’m optimistic. We are going the right way, that suits the European community, and Germany in particular. I believe we will have a common success towards this direction”, Victor Yushchenko said.
