New EUCOM, Supreme Allied Commander appointed (photo)

The German city of Stuttgart on Tuesday hosted a ceremony of handing over the powers of the chief of the European Command of the U.S. Armed Forces General Curtis Scaparrotti, EUCOM reported.

"Congrats and welcome aboard to US Army General Curtis Scaparotti, the new EUCOM commander," reads a statement.

The previous commander, Philip Breedlove, also congratulated General via Twitter.

At the same time, Scaparrotti becomes Breedlove’s successor at the post of Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
