According to the newspaper, the penalties for violating the ban on the purchase of foreign hardware and software are offered by the Ministry of Economy together with the Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Industry and Internet Development Institute. This applies to state authorities, local government and state corporations," the report says.

Lawyers believe that the maximum fine for violating the ban will amount to RUB 30,000 ($450), the newspaper notes.
