Russia has officially established diplomatic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a press conference in Moscow, Vesti TV channel reported.
“We exchanged notes which included agreement on establishing diplomatic relations between Russia and Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” Lavrov said after his meeting with counterparts from Abkhazia and South Ossetia Sergey Shamba and Murat Jioyev.
He said it is impossible to discuss security in the region without representatives of Abkhazia and Ossetia and “we will make efforts for this”.
