First EU monitors enter S.Ossetia buffer zone
The EU patrol was stopped at a Russian military checkpoint
The first group of EU ceasefire monitors entered the buffer zone around Georgia`s breakaway region of South Ossetia on Tuesday, a Reuters reporter traveling with the patrol reported.
The reporter said the EU patrol was stopped at a Russian military checkpoint marking the edge of the buffer zone and then was waved through after about ten minutes of discussions. "We are in the buffer zone," one of the monitors told the reporter.
