President Victor Yushchenko wrote a letter to President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering, according to the President`s press-office.
In his letter President Yushchenko thanked the European Parliament for approving the resolution on Holodomor in Ukraine on October 23.
“On behalf of Ukrainian nation I would like to thank European Parliament deputies for honoring memory of millions of our fellow countrymen, who became victims of inhumane Stalin’s regime and for sharing our pain that stings our souls until now”.
He also said that he considered the event another exhibit of solidarity and support to Ukraine in its effortsto uncover the truth about Holodomor 1932-1933 before the world.
“By condemning crimes of the past we create a moral precedent that makes these crimes’ repetition in the future impossible”, - said Victor Yushchenko in the letter.
