President met Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I

In Istanbul President Victor Yushchenko met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, according to the President`s press-office.

At the meeting President Yushchenko again thanked Patriarch Bartholomew I for taking part in celebration of 1020th anniversary of Baptism of Kyivan Rus. According to him Patriarch’s visit to Ukraine left Ukrainian faithful with good impression and gave them hope in establishment of Ukrainian Unified Church.

President Yushchenko also told Patriarch Bartholomew about the coming commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Holodomor in Ukraine and appealed that Patriarch asked Senior Priests of local churches to conduct commemoration services that day.
