Austrian Ambassador Josef Marcus Vuketic, Estonian Ambassador Jaan Hein and Norwegian Ambassador Olav Berstad took part in a ceremony to present their credentials to Victor Yushchenko on Tuesday, according to the President’s press-office. Then he met each diplomat face to face to discuss bilateral relations.

      Having praised the dynamics of trade between Ukraine and Austria, Mr. Yushchenko and Mr. Vuketic talked about ways to enhance humanitarian cooperation. They also spoke about President Heinz Fischer’s visit to Ukraine in 2007.

      The conversation with Estonia’s ambassador focused on ways to build closer economic ties with the ex-Soviet republic. Mr. Hein said his country would soon reestablish the Ukrainian-Estonian Trade Commission, which stopped working when Estonia joined the European Union. He also promised to support Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

      With Norwegian businessmen investing much in Ukraine’s shipbuilding, Mr. Yushchenko and Mr. Berstad discussed investment cooperation. They also spoke about energy efficiency and ecology.

      Foreign Minister Borys Tarasyuk attended the ceremony.
