In Vilnius, President Victor Yushchenko met with President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus, according to the President`s press-office. 

At the meeting sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania.

Special attention sides dedicated to discussing Ukrainian-Lithuanian energy cooperation: Baltic Sea-Caspian Sea-Black Sea energy space, possibility of beginning exports of electrical energy from Ukraine to Lithuania, establishment of Ukrainian-Lithuanian working group on energy, other projects.

Also President Yushchenko and President Adamkus discussed cooperation between the two countries in a process of Ukraine’s integration to European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, including the Eastern Partnership program, suggested by the EU.

When exchanging thoughts on recent NATO Summit results with his Lithuanian colleague, Victor Yushchenko thanked Valdas Adamkus for Lithuania’s support of Ukraine on its path towards NATO membership.

Also President Yushchenko expressed gratitude to Lithuanian nation and to their leader for solidarity with people of Ukraine in commemoration of the Holodomor victims.

Beside that President Yushchenko invited President Adamkus to visit Ukraine.
