The governor of the Moscow Region could be appointed to the post of Russia`s ambassador to Ukraine, a source in the Russian lower house said Monday, RIA Novosti reported.

Media reports on Monday said that Boris Gromov had tendered his resignation from his current post and was set to become Russia`s ambassador to Ukraine, but the governor`s press service dismissed the reports as speculation.

"Such an option exists, but a final decision has not been made yet," the State Duma source said.

"I am not going to comment on such things," Vsevolod Loskutov, minister-counselor at the Russian embassy said.
