Russia is interested in holding a meeting between Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Ryabkov said in Moscow on Thursday.

"We are interested in such a meeting," the diplomat said. "And we are preparing such an event of great magnitude in advance".

Ryabkov pointed out that he is not ready to speak on a date or venue of such a meeting. "Until the key nominees in the incoming (US) administration pass confirmation hearings," the diplomat added. He said, "It is too early to speak about specific preparation".
