Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko believes that the year 2008 was significant for Ukrainian-American relations.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this in the end-of-year interview Thursday.

The Minister noted that this year was “unprecedentedly active” in the Ukrainian-American relations. In particular, U.S. President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice paid visits to Ukraine.

Besides, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko paid visits to the USA.

According to the Minister, the two countries signed the roadmap of Ukrainian-American relations, and a charter on strategic partnership. Another positive achievement is that the council for issues of trade and investments started its operation.

“I would like to say that this year became a breakthrough from the point of view of development the Ukrainian-American relations, and we hope, and this is confirmed with results of my visit to the USA, that the new administration will take up the same position as the previous one”, he said.
