Russia`s Gazprom (GAZP.MM) should show goodwill and ensure gas supplies reach the European Union despite a dispute with transit country Ukraine, a senior official at the 27-country bloc`s executive arm said.
"We expect that Gazprom, as a reliable partner, should show goodwill ... If Naftogaz is unable to provide this compression gas, we think Gazprom should show goodwill and provide the gas," Heinz Hilbrecht, a director at the European Commission`s energy department, told the European Parliament.
He added EU observers due to monitor flows of Russian gas in Ukraine would be ready in two days.
