The 16-nation euro bought $1.2890 in Wednesday morning European trading compared with $1.2891 late Tuesday in New York.

Sentiment has been mixed recently, with renewed concerns about the banking sector offset somewhat by optimism that an Obama administration would act aggressively to bolster the faltering American economy.
