A bus with 32 people on board plunged off a cliff in Colombia on Monday night, killing at least 20 people, a top government official said Tuesday, according to CNN.
Communication with the remote site was difficult, and the casualty numbers were preliminary, said Gen. Luis Alberto Moore, commander of the national highway patrol.
The bus from the Rapido Ochoa company left the city of Medellin at 6 p.m. on its way to Quibdo and plunged off a 400-foot (120-meter) cliff on the Santa Ana road, about an hour outside the town of Carmen de Atrato, provincial government official Enrique Valencia and company spokesman Fernando Restrepo told El Tiempo newspaper.
Medellin is about 150 miles northwest of Bogota, the capital.
The road where the accident happened is in bad shape, El Tiempo said.
