USA is ready to provide Ukraine with financial assistance.
Robert Wood, Acting Spokesman of the U.S. Department of State claimed this, saying that Ukraine is an important partner for the United States, the U.S. Department of State has reported.
"Ukraine is an important partner for the United States. We`d have to take a look at a request [on financial aid], should one come in," Robert Wood said at a regular briefing on Tuesday evening.
He said that "Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko had reached out to a number of countries on this issue."
At the same time, Wood did not predict which decision would be taken.
"I can`t give you promises from this podium because I`m not aware that they`ve actually come to us on this [request]," he said.
Wood said that the United States very much supports Ukraine`s program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and hopes for its implementation.
"We believe that Ukraine should work hard with the IMF to make sure that it implements that economic program," he said.
