Tymoshenko, Merkel discuss gas transit to EU
Merkel stressed importance of implementing Ukraine-Russia gas agreements
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed measures of ensuring reliable supplies and transit of Russian gas via Ukraine to the European Union by telephone on Wednesday, Itar-Tass reported.
The press service of the Ukrainian government told Itar-Tass that Merkel had stressed the importance of implementing the Ukrainian-Russian gas agreements.
The sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation between Germany and Ukraine so as to withstand the financial and economic crisis.
