Ukraine will never block Russian supplies of gas to Hungary or the rest of the European market, Viktor Yushchenko, Ukraine’s president, said after meeting with his Hungarian counterpart in Budapest on Tuesday, Budapest Business Journal reported.

Ukraine is clear about how important it is to transport Russian gas on to European markets, and does so without conditions attached, Yushchenko said.

Events on the gas market underscore the importance of creating a unified energy system in Europe, Yushchenko said, adding that Ukraine would also participate in such a system.
