Poland has proposed to include Ukrainian military men into its contingent in Afghanistan.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Defense Minister of Ukraine Yuri Yekhanurov claimed this commenting on the results of his visit to Poland.

“The Polish side rose this issue, and I said that we will consider it”, Yuri Yekhanurov said, adding that presently 10 Ukrainian military men, medical and headquarters officers, are serving in Afghanistan.

The Defense Minister pointed out that Ukraine will continue taking part in the NATO operation in Afghanistan, but only at the level of specialists having a status of military personnel.

“For us, Afghanistan is a very sensitive topic, and we cannot significantly increase our presence in this country”, the Minister said.
