Transdnistria calls upon Ukraine and Russia for taking measures
For strengthening of peacekeeping operation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the unrecognized Transdnistrian Moldovan Republic (PMR) has called upon Ukraine and Russia for taking necessary measures for the strengthening of the peacekeeping operation in its present format. The statement, unveiled by Transdnistria foreign office on Saturday, says, according to Moldova.org.
The statement was conditioned by an incident on Friday in the vicinity of the Cocieru village of the Dubasari raion in the Security Zone on the Dniester. According to estimate by the Transdnistrian foreign office, Moldova`s law and order authorities implemented their next provocation by having tried to install a police post and to block the motor transport traffic along the Tiraspol-Rybnitsa highway that violated the activity regime of the both sides` law and order bodies.
"Only the balanced reserved actions by the Transdnistrian law and order bodies did not allow the situation to be transformed into the open confrontation stage, which the Moldovan side tried to reach. Besides, the peacekeeping mechanism reacted quickly and exactly, an away sitting of the Joint Control Commission was organized and carried out in its frames", the document underlines.
Its authors remark that the JCC was able to settle the incident and in accordance with the taken decisions, a peacekeeping post was installed in this place.
"Moldova`s leadership continues pursuing an active policy, aimed at breaking the existing format of the peacekeeping operation. The instruments for realizing such course become information pressing, appeals to third sides on supporting the Moldovan authorities` actions, as well as constant actions, aimed against the peacekeeping mechanism", the statement says.
The Transdnistrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Moldovan authorities` unilateral actions which could violate peace and stability in the region and estimated such actions as another attempt to destabilize the situation in order to deepen the crisis in the Moldovan-Transdnistrian relations and to discredit the present format of the peacekeeping operation.
"This event proved convincingly that the existing peacekeeping mechanism, including the activities in the frame of the Joint Control Commission remains as before the key element for maintaining peace and stability both in the Security zone and in relations between the sides. We call upon Russia and Ukraine for the strengthening of the peacekeeping operation and for taking necessary measures for the strengthening of the peacekeeping operation in its present format, the ministry said.
