On March 5, 2007, Ukraine and EU will hold the first round of negotiations on a new enhanced agreement, according to the Mission of Ukraine to European Communities.
The Ukrainian delegation will be headed by deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Andriy Veselovskyj, the EU delegation – by the acting Deputy Director General of DG RELEX of the European Commission Mr. Hugues Mingarelli. On the eve of the talks the head of the Ukrainian delegation is also scheduled to meet the EU Commissioner for External Relations Mrs. Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
The round will be dedicated to the organizational aspects of the negotiations. The parties will discuss the schedule of talks for 2007, the establishment of working groups etc. The exchange of thoughts will also take place on the main elements, principles and goals of the new agreement.
The next round of negotiations will be held on April 2, 2007 in Kyiv.
