Prime Minister Victor Yanukovych assures PACE co-rapporteurs Renate Wohlwend and Hanne Severinsen of the stable economical and political situation in the country.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Prime Minister said this at a meeting with the PACE delegation today.

“In our opinion, the political and economical situation is stable. A process, having final traces of the past presidential and parliamentary elections, is taking place”, Victor Yanukovych said.

According to him, the constitutional reform, which entered into force since 1 January 2006, is gaining now “legal features, and begins operating in all the directions of state activities”.

Statements of some politicians and political forces about the necessity of carrying out early parliamentary and presidential elections have no legal bases, he stressed.

Victor Yanukovych added he will hear with interested to the conclusions of the PACE delegation’s visit to Ukraine.

The PACE delegation pays visit in Ukraine to prepare a report concerning Ukraine’s fulfilling obligations to the Council of Europe.
