Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos agreed to restore diplomatic relations between their countries, Venezuelan newspaper Universal reported, according to RIA Novosti.

The two Latin American leaders met in the Colombian resort town of Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast and lasted for over 4 hours.

Venezuela cut off diplomatic ties with Colombia in July after former Colombian leader Alvaro Uribe accused the country of harboring Colombian guerillas.
