Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski on Tuesday talked with his Lithuanian counterpart Gediminas Kirkilas over telephone on the latest development of the crisis in Ukraine, the Polish government information office reported, according to People’s Daily.

      The two leaders expressed the hope that compromise could be reached via new democratic elections there.

      They said that neither Poland nor Lithuania would mediate between parties involved in the conflict without a clear invitation from Ukraine.

      Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko issued an order on April 2 to dissolve parliament and hold early elections on May 27.

      Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and his ruling coalition in parliament defied the order and brought his supporters onto the streets of Ukrainian capital. On April 5, Yanukovych called for international mediation to resolve the crisis.
