“Ukraine advocates the soonest resolution of temporary misunderstandings in bilateral relations of Russia and Estonia, which emerged following dismantling of the memorial of the Soldier Liberator in the center of Tallinn” – declared Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk during his working visit to the USA, according to the press-office of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
“We sincerely hope that this will not become a reason for further escalation of bilateral relations between both states”, – noted the Head of Ukrainian foreign service.
Arseniy Yatseniuk stressed the necessity to hold procedure of removal of the memorial in accordance with existing standards, rendering the necessary honors to soldiers of the Second World War. At the same time he urged to respect position of Estonian authorities as well. “Decision on removal of the memorial is a decision of Estonia and we have to respect a sovereign right of the state to take such decisions”, - underlined Minister for foreign affairs of Ukraine.
