An Azerbaijani pop duo, Ell and Nikki, won the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with 221 points on Saturday, a RIA Novosticorrespondent reported.

The duo performed a romantic ballad, Running Scared.

Italy`s Raphael Gualazzi came second with 189 points after performing Madness of Love, and Sweden`s Eric Saade, who sang Popular, was in third place with 185 points.

Ukraine gained 159 points and Denmark 134 - fourth and fifth places respectively. They were followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Ireland, Georgia and Germany.

Russia`s Alexei Vorobyov, who sang a song called Get You, written by well-known music producer RedOne, also Lady Gaga`s songwriter, finished 16th.

A total of 43 countries took part in this year`s edition of the annual event. Performers from 25 of them made it to Saturday`s final.
