Top Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko hopes that Russia will open its archives concerning Holodomor for Ukrainian historians.
He claimed this in an interview to UNIAN.
“We are basing on the fact that the Russian side will treat this problem with understanding, because it concerns an extremely important period of the Ukrainian history. We also hope that Russian colleagues will not deny evident facts, and will join the initiative to unveil the archives”, V.Ohryzko said.
The Top Deputy Foreign Minister noted that, as of today, unfortunately, not all Ukrainian scientists have an opportunity to work in Russian archives.
Answering the question about possibility of blocking by Russia the consideration of the issue about recognizing Holodomor as genocide, V.Ohryzko stressed the UN General Assembly acts on the principle of majority.
