On November 7, 2007 a meeting of Mr Volodymyr Khandogiy, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the Ambassadors of the EU Troika – Mr. Jose Manuel Pessanha Viegas, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Ukraine, Mr. Ian Tindall Boag, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine and Mrs. Natasha Prakh, Councilor of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ukraine took place, according to the MFA press-office.

 The parties discussed the issues, connected with the preparation for the 13th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 3rd Conference of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol under this Convention, scheduled for December 2007 in Indonesia.

 The EU representatives noted the progress, achieved by Ukraine as to the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, and invited the Ukrainian side to cooperate with the EU in coordination of efforts regarding the preparation and participation in this forum.

 From his side Mr. Khandogiy familiarized the EU Troika Ambassadors with the Ukraine’s stay as to the issues to be discussed within the mentioned event, in particular, with the Ukraine’s initiatives, which had been presented by Mr. Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in New York during the high level meeting on climate change and general political discussion at the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly on September 24, 2007.

 The parties expressed their belief in the continuation of the constructive cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, in particular within the post-Kyoto negotiations for a new climate change agreement.
