Victor Yushchenko has met with British Ambassador Robert Brinkly, whose diplomatic term is soon coming to an end, according to the President’s press-office.

The Head of State thanked Mr. Brinkly for his diplomatic service. He said Ukrainian-British relations were actively developing and expressed hope the two countries would build closer economic ties.

Mr. Yushchenko said Ukraine appreciated Tony Blair’s visit in 2005, which helped improve our bilateral dialogue.

The President reiterated that Ukraine was committed to its Euro-Atlantic aspirations and said he hoped Great Britain would support our ambitions to join EU and NATO.
