The Russian Rosprirodnadzor environmental protection agency`s deputy head Oleg Mitvol, Ukrainian Transport and Communications Minister Nikolai Rudkovsky and Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Nestor Shufrich in a television link on Friday evening will discuss the situation in the Kerch strait, the Russian Natural Resources Ministry’s press service told Itar-Tass.
The officials will discuss solution of the oil contamination problem. They will discuss, in particular, construction of a dike across the strait in the Sea of Azov.
Mitvol said earlier that the only way to prevent oil contamination of the Sea of Azov was construction of a dike between the Tuzla spit and Ukraine`s Tuzla Island. If a dike is not built there, the Sea of Azov will be affected with contamination consequences for ten to 15 years, he noted.
