Yanukovych held a meeting with CIS Executive Secretary
They discussed topical problems for the CIS member states
Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Serhiy Lebedyev, according to the government’s press-office. The meeting took place in Ashgabat within framework of the official visit of the Ukrainian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan.
During the meeting Viktor Yanukovych congratulated Serhiy Lebedyev on appointment to high post of Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary. In particular, the Head of Ukrainian Government expressed confidence in constructive and fruitful cooperation with the CIS Executive Committee with a glance that Ukraine presides now in the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS member states.
The sides have discussed a series of topical problems for the CIS member states. The matter concerned, particularly, the status and prospects of the Commonwealth, role of the Executive Committee in fulfillment of the basic tasks of the Plan on implementation of the Concept of further CIS development.
Main directions included in the presidency Program of Ukraine its social-economic aspect mainly have been also discussed by the participants.
Viktor Yanukovych expressed hope that sitting of the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS member states in Ashgabat would be efficient.
