Two Ukrainian medical officers to fulfill peacemaking mission in Afghanistan

The rotation of Ukraine’s only officer took place today

The rotation of Ukraine’s only officer, captain of medical service Andriy Rodzonyak, who fulfilled tasks within frames of Lithuanian subdivision of the International Relief Forces in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, took place today.

According to the press-service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, the multi-national subdivision, which fulfilled relief tasks in the Afghanistan province of Gor, included 120 people, out of them 4 doctors (surgeon, physician, dentist, and Ukrainian anesthesiologist-resuscitation specialist). According to captain A.Rodzonyak, he had rather a lot of work in Afghanistan. “Often you had to work there as a traumatologist, physician, or laboratory assistant”, he said.

According to the information of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, serving in the Lithuanian contingent, A.Rodzonyak acquired a reputation of a perfect doctor, who, regardless of his rather young age – 31, has a big experience in the sphere of medicine. In addition to Afghanistan, he already served in peacemaking missions in Iraq and Liberia.

In the course of rotation, he was replaced by two doctors from Ukraine – a military surgeon from Dnipropetrovsk and an anesthesiologist from Kyiv.
