President speaks with Javier Solana

Javier Solana, Secretary General of the EU Council and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, has called Victor Yushchenko, according to the President’s press-office.   

They discussed the current political situation in Ukraine. Mr. Solana congratulated the President on the formation of a democratic ‘orange’ coalition. He was also interested to learn how Ukraine`s new governemnt was being formed and who would become the country`s new speaker. 

The Head of State assured Mr. Solana that Ukraine would not change its Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
