On January 22, 2008 a phone talk between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ogryzko and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov took place, according to the MFA press-service. The Ministers discussed the preparation of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko’s visit to Moscow, and the Second meeting of Yushchenko-Putin Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for February 12, 2008 in Moscow.

 They agreed that in the framework of the visit to Moscow of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Secretary Raisa Bohatyryova at the end of this month the parties with assistance of the MFA of two countries’ representatives would coordinate the preparation of the documents to be signed following the Second meeting of the Commission. Among them - the Action Plan for 2008 as well as the documents on cooperation in the trade, economic, scientific and technical spheres.

 The parties also confirmed that following the Second meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission a number of visits of high level officials of two states would be held in order to implement arrangements achieved by the Presidents.

 The heads of foreign ministries also agreed to hold after the Commission a bilateral meeting for discussing current issues of Ukrainian-Russian relations.
