The forthcoming session of the Subcommittee No 7 on "Science and technology, R&D, education, culture and public health, information society & media" of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Committee is scheduled for January 24-25, 2008 in Brussels, according to the Mission of Ukraine to European Communities.
According to the Subcommittee’s draft agenda, both sides will discuss preparation of Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area, reforming and upgrading the education and training systems of Ukraine and their further convergence with EU standards and practices, Ukraine’s participation in the Action Jean Monnet, Tempus and the Erasmus Mundus programs, progress in the development of information Society services and in the integration of Ukraine into the IST research program.
Cultural and audio-visual co-operation, ratification and implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the protection and promotion of Cultural Diversity, approximate relevant audiovisual legislation in full compliance with European standards and public health policies by Ukraine and the EU are to be discussed as well.
The Ukrainian delegation will be headed by the First Deputy Minister on Education and Science A.Gurgiy.
