Ukraine wants to obtain status of EU associate member
Yushchenko spoke at Europe-Ukraine Forum
President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko claims that Ukraine would like to obtain a status of a European Union associate member country.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this speaking today at the first international forum “Europe-Ukraine”, which opened in Kyiv today.
“The status of an associate member suits us most of all”, he stressed.
According to him, in the new enhanced agreement between Ukraine and EU, Ukraine would like to see two basic things – a political association and an economic intervention.
Victor Yushchenko recalled that several weeks ago, Ukraine put forward an idea, which is considered today at the political, as well as the expert level. “I hope that by the September Ukraine-EU summit, we will find the formula that will correspond to the Ukrainian aspirations”, the President added.
